Moses Oakland

7 p.m. • Cabooze • 18-plus • free

The longest-running bar jam session in the Twin Cities, hosted by the guy with the longest-flowing beard, "The Legendary Blues Jam Featuring Moses Oakland" has happily found a new home after a 15-year run at Famous Dave's in Uptown and a decade before that at the Blues Saloon in Frogtown. Guitarist and singer Oakland recently moved his indigo party to the Cabooze, which rhymes with "da blooze." Hopefully the core players — Charles Fletcher, Donald "Hye Pockets" Robertson, Jason Craft and Scott Sansby — will remain in the fold. Tom Surowicz

Leigh Kamman tribute

4 p.m. • Saint Paul Hotel, 350 Market St. • $20 donation

There may be other great jazz broadcasters yet to emerge in Minnesota, but certainly none who rode around Harlem with Duke Ellington. Dulcet-toned Kamman, who died last October at 92, will be feted with a memorial celebration that reflects how he was beloved by musicians of all stripes. Ten acts are scheduled, with a jam session set to wrap up the evening. T.S.
