The three best teams in Major League Soccer this season played Sunday, and nothing was settled.
Atlanta United and New York City FC drew 2-2 in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Alexander Ring scored his first MLS goal for New York City FC, at 5-0-2 still atop the league standings.
David Villa, playing his second match after a three-game absence with a quadriceps injury, had a goal and an assist for New York City.
Atlanta is 4-2-0, still the third-best mark of the MLS season.
Ring's goal made it 2-2 in the 73rd minute. Villa, at the top left corner of the box, drew three defenders and dropped it back to Ring, who ripped a right-footer off the crossbar from well outside the area.
MLS' second-best team so far this season, Sporting KC, also drew Sunday, making its record 4-1-1. Sporting got goals from Graham Zusi and Ilie Sanchez and drew 2-2 with Seattle in Kansas City, Kan.
Will Bruin scored Seattle's first goal of the season, ending a four-game road scoreless streak, the longest in club history.
Sporting is unbeaten in its past five.
