MONDAY

APPLE VALLEY: The fourth annual Veterans Day Recognition Assembly to honor local veterans will be held at Apple Valley High School, 14450 Hayes Road, beginning with a social hour at 8:15 a.m.; a recognition assembly begins at 9.

BURNSVILLE: Veterans and parents are invited to a Veterans Day program at 2:15 p.m. at Vista View Elementary School, 13109 County Road 5. The theme is "Freedom is a Treasure," and students will sing patriotic songs and read poetry.

CHATFIELD: Veterans Day flag presentation by the Veterans of Foreign Wars at 9 a.m. at Chatfield Elementary School, 11555 Hillside Drive SE.

CHISHOLM: A Veterans Day program will be held at 10 a.m. in the Chisholm High School auditorium, 301 4th St. SW.

FERGUS FALLS: "Coffee With A Veteran" program at 10 a.m. at the Fergus Falls Veterans Home, 1821 N. Park St. All veterans are invited to attend. At 2 p.m. there will be a Veterans Day program in the dining room with speaker Eric Marts, a radio host and Iraq veteran.

FOREST LAKE: A Veterans Day program will be held at 6 p.m. at Forest Lake American Legion, 355 W. Broadway Av., with a speaker, rifle salute and taps. A free light supper will follow the service.

GOLDEN VALLEY: General Mills headquarters, 1 General Mills Blvd., will hold a Veterans Day program, "Honoring Our Heroes," beginning at 3:30 p.m. Keynote speaker will be Staff Sgt. Sal Giunta, the first living Medal of Honor recipient since the Vietnam War, speaking on "Uncommon Valor: The Importance of Teamwork, Sacrifice and Leadership."

HASTINGS: A Veterans Day program will be held at 10 a.m. in the auditorium at the Minnesota Veterans Home, 1200 18th St. E.

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS: The official state Veterans Day program is at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Community Center, 8055 Barbara Av. It will include Gov. Mark Dayton; Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Shellito; Maj. Gen. Richard Nash, adjutant general of the Minnesota National Guard; and other officials. Free community breakfast from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

LUVERNE: A Veterans Day program will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the dining room at the Minnesota Veterans Home, 1300 N. Kniss Av., with message delivered by Chaplain Wendell Brenneman.

MAPLE LAKE: Veterans Day programs will be held at 9 and 10 a.m. at Maple Lake High School auditorium, 200 Hwy. 55 E. Free lunch will be provided for all veterans at the V Restaurant in Maple Lake.

MINNEAPOLIS: The grand opening of the Sheridan Memorial Park Veterans Memorial in northeast Minneapolis is scheduled for 10 a.m. The memorial is at the south end of the park, located at 1300 Water St. NE.

MINNEAPOLIS: A Veterans Day program will be held at 2 p.m. at the Minnesota Veterans Home, in the auditorium of Building 15, 5101 Minnehaha Av. S. Speaker will be Army Maj. Gen. Edward Steiner (retired), with music by the ­Copper Street Quartet.

MINNEAPOLIS: A Veterans Day program commemorating the Armistice will be held at 6 p.m. in the second-floor club room of Brit's Pub, 1110 Nicollet Mall.

NORWOOD YOUNG AMERICA: A Veterans Day program will be held at 10 a.m. at Central High School, 531 Morse St.

PERHAM: Perham VFW, 805 W. Main St., will offer tours of its museum presentation, "In Their Own Words," and veterans will be honored with a free meal of stew.

ROBBINSDALE: Starting at 8:30 a.m. at 4300 Grimes Av. N., a crew of former military personnel will do light construction work on a Habitat for Humanity home.

ROCHESTER: Rochester Community and Technical College, 851 30th Av. SE., will have a ceremony for Veterans Day at 11 a.m. in the campus atrium.

SILVER BAY: A Veterans Day program will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Minnesota Veterans Home, 45 Banks Blvd.

ST. PAUL: Veterans For Peace will hold its traditional Armistice Day event on the State Capitol grounds at the First Shot Memorial on John Ireland Boulevard. Speakers at 10:30 a.m., followed by bell ringing at 11.

WINONA: A Veterans Day program will be held at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on Lake Park Drive, plus a 24-hour vigil at the park. Civil War re-enactors will set up for the public to view.

TUESDAY

ONAMIA: A Veterans Day program will be held at 9:15 a.m. in the Onamia High School gymnasium, 35465 125th Av.

LAKE ST. CROIX BEACH: The Yellow Ribbon Alliance of the Lower St. Croix Valley will host a Veterans Recognition Dinner from 5-7 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 16770 13th St. S. Dinner is free and door prizes will be raffled off. Veterans, service members and families are welcome.
