Add Bashkim Kadrii to the list of Minnesota United's Scandinavian connections that hasn't worked out this inaugural season.

The club officially announced Friday it had terminated the Danish winger's year-long loan. Kadrii joined the club back in February and began the season as a starter but eventually fell out of favor. He hasn't been with the team in a week. He played in 11 matches with five starts, scoring just one goal for the Loons in a July 15 friendly against Atlas FC.

Kadrii was one of five Scandinavia-area players United signed ahead of this season, and none of those are currently with the team. Former captain Norwegian defender Vadim Demidov is still on the roster but has not practiced with the team in several weeks while the club looks for a wayy to move him. Swedish goalkeeper John Alvbage's loan expired at the end of July. The club traded Swedish midfielder Mo Saeid to the Colorado Rapids back in March. And the team sent Finnish midfielder Rasmus Schuller on loan back to Finland for the rest of this season a few weeks ago.

Take a break

United isn't playing during this international break, so the Loon have extra time before their Sept. 9 match against the Philadelphia Union. But that can have pros and cons when coming of a big 2-1 road win at the Chicago Fire.

"You're really pumped about it, really excited about the win. You want to build on that, and then there's an international, break," rookie forward Abu Danladi said. "But it's part of the game, you know, and that's something that's just mental. Everybody take the time, take a day off and come back and start working again and just get ready for the next game. Doesn't matter how long or how far the game is."

The team will take the weekend off and will likely resume training again Tuesday.

"It's good when you're on the back of a [win] because you have two weeks to sort of think it's going really well," coach Adrian Heath said. "I wouldn't have liked to have been here on the back of a four-nil defeat."

Other notes: Forward Christian Ramirez, center-back Brent Kallman, midfielder Collin Martin and defender Thomas de Villardi all practiced separately recovering from their various injuries. Midfielder Sam Cronin watched from the sidelines with his concussion. Goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth was not at practice Friday at the National Sports Center.
