James Cagney was known for playing tough guys. That was the actor, not the teenager by the same name who faces charges of stealing his mother's car and leading Wisconsin cops on a wild chase Sunday morning that ended with a foot race and a Taser.

According to this Capital Times story out of Madison, 17-year-old James Cagney of Nerstrand, Minn., kicked off the chase near Viroqua early Sunday morning. Vernon County sheriff's deputies got a call from his mom, saying he'd stolen her car and might by heading back toward Minnesota from the La Crosse, Wis. area.

After a few U-turns and a chase that topped 100 mph, deputies deployed spike strips aimed at blowing his tires. He eluded the strips the first time, but the next time, three tires blew. The teen, according to the police, kept driving until the fourth wheel came off the car. Then he allegedly took off on foot, only to be stopped with a Taser.

He was slated to appear in court Monday on charges including drunken driving, auto theft and fleeing police.
