A technical fall by third-ranked Brett Pfarr at 197 pounds boosted the Gophers to a 17-16 victory over Wisconsin in a Big Ten wrestling dual Sunday in Madison.

The victory completed a weekend road sweep for the 17th-ranked Gophers and puts them two matches above .500 for the first time since early November, at 9-7 overall and 5-3 in the Big Ten.

"There was great fight today," Gophers coach J Robinson said. "I thought that's what we did, we fought really good. That's a good thing. I like the fight."

The teams split the 10 bouts. Pfarr's tech fall came in the first match after halftime, a 17-2 win over Nic Veling that finished with a four-point near fall at the end of the second period. The win was Minnesota's only bonus-point victory on the afternoon, and it gave the Gophers the lead for the first time in the dual.

With the dual's result depending on the winner of the 141-pound bout, No. 7 Tommy Thorn captured the victory for Minnesota with a 6-0 shutout of Luke Rowh.

Minnesota closes its Big Ten season Friday at Illinois.
