Casey Mittelstadt, a freshman who signed with the Buffalo Sabres after the Gophers men's hockey season ended, earned three team awards announced Monday.

Mittelstadt, who ranked second on the team with 30 points on 11 goals and 19 assists, was named the Gophers' most valuable player, along with rookie of the year and playoff MVP. Other honorees were:

Outstanding student-athlete, and most determined player: senior forward Leon Bristedt.

Community service award: junior forward Darian Romanko.

Unsung hero award: junior forward Jack Ramsey.

Leadership and sportsmanship award: senior forward Mike Szmatula.

All-Star tickets on sale

Tickets for the July 28 WNBA All-Star Game at Target Center went on sale Monday.

It will be the first time the game has come to Minneapolis, home of the defending champion Lynx. Last season, the Lynx sent four players — Maya Moore, Sylvia Fowles, Rebekkah Brunson and Seimone Augustus — to the game in Seattle. Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve led the Western Conference team to victory, and Moore was named the game's MVP for the second consecutive year.

The full schedule of All-Star game events will be announced at a later date..

• Augustus and Fowles will compete in the USA Women's National Team's camp April 24-26 in Seattle. The camp will end with an exhibition against the China national team on April 26.

Big Ten cites Coffey, Fiser

Gophers infielder Micah Coffey was named the Big Ten baseball co-player of the week and Gophers pitcher Amber Fiser was named the Big Ten softball pitcher of the week. Coffey drove in 10 runs in the Gophers' two victories over Purdue. Fiser, a sophomore, allowed only one unearned run and struck out 10 in 14 innings in leading the Gophers to two victories over Iowa.

• The Gophers' home softball doubleheader with Wisconsin scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed and will be rescheduled.
