Minneapolis police are seeking the public's help in finding the driver of a white sedan that fled an August crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist.

On Thursday, investigators posted a video of the violent crash on the department's Facebook page, hoping that somebody may recognize the vehicle and know who was behind the wheel when the crash occurred just after 9 p.m. on Aug. 7 at the intersection of Lake Street and 19th Avenue S.

Police have since recovered the vehicle but have had no luck at finding the driver.

Surveillance video from a business captured the moment that motorcyclist heading east collided with a westbound white sedan making a left turn off Lake Street. The motorcycle struck the car on the front of passenger side and sent debris flying. The video shows the car with a damaged front bumper driving away.

The video shows several pedestrians descending on the scene and some filming the aftermath. In addition, a number of motorists were in the area at the time of the crash.

"There were a lot of people in the area and we'd like to talk to them. They are not in trouble," said Sgt. Catherine Michal. "Maybe people saw the vehicle driving away or they saw the car driving around."

Anybody who saw the crash, has video of the incident or has information about the driver of the white car can call Officer Bryon Cross at (612) 673-3442.
