A 79-year-old Mille Lacs County man was killed when his car veered off the road Friday afternoon.
Vernon G. Hartleib was headed south on Hwy. 169 when his vehicle suddenly left the roadway and struck nearby trees. He was not wearing his seat belt, according to the State Patrol, and died at the scene.
Hartleib was a resident of Onamia, Minn., a town with a population of fewer than 900 people. He is listed as a 2015 Dailey Township supervisor.
