Sam Bradford seems likely to open at quarterback for the Vikings on Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers.

But Vikings coach Mike Zimmer repeated Friday that he will not reveal whether Bradford or Shaun Hill will start until gameday.

When asked if Bradford, acquired from Philadelphia on Sept. 4 for first- and fourth-round draft choices, was ready to start, Zimmer said: "Yeah, he could. He could. Shaun's ready, too."

Zimmer said Bradford had a good grasp of the offense.

"All I know is he comes in pretty early in the morning and stays late," Zimmer said. "He's worked enough to get ready."

The quarterback intrigue is already part of the hoopla surrounding the first regular-season game at U.S. Bank Stadium, which will be played before a national television audience with extra hype on pregame and halftime festivities.

"It'll be fun," Zimmer said. "Not for me, but fun for everybody else."

Floyd, Rhodes out

Starters Sharrif Floyd and Xavier Rhodes have knee injuries and will not play Sunday.

Rhodes will be replaced at cornerback by Trae Waynes.

Floyd is part of a defensive tackle rotation, so his snaps will be covered by Linval Joseph, Tom Johnson and Shamar Stephen getting extra work. But Sunday will be the eighth time since the start of the 2014 season that Floyd will miss the bulk of a game.

"I'm kind of used to it," Zimmer said. "Some guys just get hurt."

Said Floyd: "He's used to it, he hears it every week, so it's about time to stop hearing that.

"We go through every year, 16 games, 17 however many with playoffs … little nagging injuries they come and go, just got to fight through it. But some things you can't fight through."

Matt Kalil was a limited participant in practice Friday, and the left tackle was listed as questionable because of a hip injury. He hasn't missed a start since the Vikings drafted him in 2012.

For the Packers, cornerback Josh Hawkins (hamstring) is out. Cornerback Sam Shields (concussion), linebacker Jayrone Elliott (hamstring) and safety Chris Banjo (hamstring) are doubtful.

Treadwell could play

Rookie wideout Laquon Treadwell, the Vikings' first-round draft pick, stayed after practice to catch a few balls after being dressed, but not playing, in Sunday's victory in Tennessee.

"I've talked to him throughout the week about some of the things I want him to improve on," Zimmer said. "I think he's worked real hard at it. … He's got to understand all of the routes and combinations as well as adjustments off those things. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time, but I have confidence in him.

"You know things change in a game, [but] I can probably say that I think he's going to play."

Focusing in

After two preseason games at U.S. Bank Stadium, the Vikings seem to be taking Sunday night's grand opening in muted fashion.

"It's only a home field when you make it that way," center Joe Berger said. "You got Green Bay coming, first home opener, first game in the new stadium, a lot of reasons that it's going to be an electric place.

"We just need to focus on what we need to focus on."

Etc.

• Defensive end Everson Griffen cost teammate Harrison Smith an interception when he was flagged for roughing Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota late in Sunday's game. Griffen was also fined $18,231 for the hit by the NFL.
