Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who as mayor waged campaigns against smoking and oversized sodas, is considering taking up a new campaign — for president of the United States.

Bloomberg has confirmed that he's "looking at all the options" and "listening to what candidates are saying and what the primary voters appear to be doing."

At the moment, it seems, Bloomberg isn't a big fan of what he's been hearing so far.

"I find the level of discourse and discussion distressingly banal and an outrage and an insult to the voters," Bloomberg said.

The former New York mayor is considering a run as a third-party candidate, asking his advisers to check into what such a bid might entail.

According to reports, the billionaire will decide on whether he's taking the plunge by early next month, so as to ensure that he will appear on the ballot in all 50 states.
