Gustavus got its offense untracked in the second half to rally for a 35-13 MIAC victory over Augsburg in St. Peter, Minn., on Saturday.

The Gusties, who gained just 55 yards in six first-half possessions, trailed 13-0 at halftime.

But the Gusties (3-0, 1-0) controlled the second half as Christian Haffner threw three TD passes and Karim Ortiz rushed for two scores.

Ortiz scored on a 43-yard TD run on the Gusties' first possession of the second half, and Haffner threw two TD passes in the third quarter.

Ortiz scored on a 6-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter to make it 27-13. He finished with 180 yards in 27 carries.

St. John's 44, Carleton 0: The host Johnnies forced five turnovers and blocked a punt that resulted in a TD en route to a victory over the Oles in Collegeville.

The Johnnies, ranked No. 8 in Divison III, took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter on three TD passes from Jackson Erdmann.

The Johnnies limited the Oles to nine first downs and 88 yards in offense.

St. Thomas 62, Carleton 10: The Tommies, ranked No. 4 in Division III, scored 21 points in the first seven minutes and went on to defeat the visiting Knights in St. Paul.

Josh Parks ran for two TDs and Alex Fenske threw two TD passes in the first half as the Tommies built a 48-3 lead.

Parks finished with 143 yards in nine carries as the Tommies gained 614 yards.

Concordia (Moorhead) 21, Bethel 13: Quarterback Michael Herzog rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown and directed a turnover-free offense to lead the Cobbers past the host Royals.

Herzog, who completed seven of 11 passes for 72 yards, scored on an 11-yard TD run on the first play of the fourth quarter to give the Cobbers a 20-7 lead.
