J.T. GIBSON

Champlin Park, 6-3, senior guard

Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year. Leading scorer on the No. 1 team in Class 4A, averaging 19.0 points per game. Also averages 4.5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2.7 steals. Deadly from outside but has quickness to blow by defenders. Calm and collected team leader with a high basketball IQ. Signed with Nebraska-Omaha.

SACAR ANIM

DeLaSalle, 6-4, senior forward

Out from the shadow of departed Reid Travis, Anim exploded as a go-to scorer, getting double figures in all 25 games and averaging 23.9 points. Size and athleticism make him tough to stop. Makes big shots. Headed to Marquette.

STEFFON MITCHELL

Shakopee, 6-7, junior forward

Made a terrific leap forward this season. A defensive stopper with long arms and exceptional timing. Led the state-tournament-bound Sabers in scoring (23.9 points) and rebounds (9.3 per game)

JOHN WARREN

Hopkins, 6-4 senior guard

When the Royals' top player, Amir Coffey, went out because of a knee injury, Warren elevated his game and led Hopkins to another Class 4A state tournament berth. Does everything: defends, brings the ball up court, scored 18.7 points per game.

MARSHAWN WILSON

Hill-Murray, 6-2 senior guard

Plays much larger than his size. Can take over a game on the offensive end by creating space inside or shooting over opponents. Averages 26.9 points, topping 30 points 13 times despite consistent double-teams. Grabbed 10 rebounds per game. Creighton, TCU interested.

HOW THE TEAM WAS PICKED

The Star Tribune's All-Metro teams and Player of the Year were chosen based on nominations from metro-area coaches (all metro coaches were sent a nomination form), conversations with coaches and staff observations.
