The Hennepin County medical examiner has identified the 39-year-old woman who died in a house fire Wednesday in Minneapolis as Navia J. Walker, a resident of the home.

The fire started about 12:20 a.m. on the first floor of the house at 2110 Emerson Av. N. Walker and a 78-year-old woman were on the second floor.

Bryan Tyner, assistant fire chief, said the blaze was under control in about an hour.

Tyner said the 78-year-old woman was in critical condition Wednesday.

The Red Cross was assisting eight people displaced from the residence.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
