Inner Workings: HOTTEA

Opening Friday: A seasoned graffiti enthusiast, yarn-bomber and 2007 Minneapolis College of Art and Design grad, HOTTEA plans to probe his personal life in his first solo show at Burnet Gallery in Le Meridien Chambers Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. His new work will consist of nine roughly chronological sculptures, including a pair of hollow fabric boxes that viewers can crawl into and a pair of life-size figures clinging to a gallery wall. Originally known as Eric Rieger, the artist has wrapped yarn around pipes in London, through chain-link fence in Los Angeles (above) and dangled it from an atrium ceiling at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. As a graphic designer and brand developer, he's also worked for Converse, Red Bull and Google. (Opening 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Friday, free. Burnet Gallery, Le Meridien Chambers Hotel, 901 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. Show ends July 7, free. 612-767-6900 or www.lemeridienchambers.com/art.
