A man was shot and wounded Monday night in St. Paul's Dayton's Bluff neighborhood, just two blocks from the scene of a woman's fatal shooting Sunday afternoon. It was too early to tell if the shootings were related, police said.

The man, whose identity, age and hometown were not released, was shot near the intersection of Bush Avenue and N. Cypress Street about 8:45 p.m., said police spokesman Howie Padilla. He was "conscious and breathing" when taken to Regions Hospital, Padilla said.

"Obviously, it was in the same vicinity as Sunday's shooting, and we'll be looking at everything possible, but we don't know yet if they're related," Padilla said. No one has been arrested in either shooting.

About 2:45 p.m. Sunday, a woman later identified by relatives as Naressa Turner, 20, of St. Paul, was fatally shot as she sat in a vehicle in an alley near the 900 block of Reaney Avenue. Relatives and friends who gathered at the scene after the shooting said the aspiring rapper had been the target of threats on Facebook and other social media sites, possibly because people believed she had witnessed a murder earlier this year in St. Paul.

Police said Sunday that they did not believe Turner was randomly targeted, but declined to comment on relatives' suspicions.

Less than two hours before Monday's shooting, a vigil was held nearby to honor Turner, who had attended the High School for Recording Arts in St. Paul. Her death was the city's 14th homicide of the year.
