A man died Sunday afternoon in Wabasha County when his vehicle went off the road, flipped and slammed into a utility pole, according to the State Patrol.

The 48-year-old man was traveling eastbound about 1:30 p.m. on County Road 15 in Mount Pleasant Township when his 2007 Chevrolet Suburban left the road and launched into the air, landing on its roof. It also struck a utility pole.

The incident happened 2 ½ miles west of Hwy. 63 in Mount Pleasant Township, which is in Wabasha County.

Road conditions were dry at the time, the patrol said, and the Suburban's air bags deployed.

The man's identity will be released Monday.
