lynx gameday

4 p.m. vs. Connecticut • Target Center • TV: FSN-Plus • Radio: 106.1 FM

Lynx update: The Lynx used a strong finish in their season-opening victory at Washington, beating a Mystics team that won both games between the two teams last season. With F Rebekkah Brunson, F Devereaux Peters and G Monica Wright all out while recovering from knee surgeries, the Lynx leaned heavily on F Maya Moore (34 points, nine rebounds) and G Seimone Augustus (24 points). PG Lindsay Whalen had 10 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Rookie F Damiris Dantas had six points and 12 rebounds in her WNBA debut. But the lack of depth on the roster is evident; the Lynx got just six points from their bench vs. Washington.

Sun update: The Sun finished last in the Eastern Conference last season and responded by overhauling its roster. Connecticut traded for F Alyssa Thomas and F Kelsey Bone, signed F Mistie Bass and used the No. 1 overall draft pick to take F Chiney Ogwumike. So the Sun is young, and it might take some time for the new roster to gel, as indicated by Connecticut's 75-54 loss to New York on Friday. Ogwumike scored 13 points in that game and Alex Bentley scored 10 but the Sun shot just 30 percent and was 2-for-15 on three-pointers.
