If you live in northeast Minneapolis you will either find this highly entertaining or highly annoying. For the third year, the Pedal Pub Races are back on June 10. If you thought these bars on wheels were loud before, wait till you see 40-plus teams racing them up and down the block in front of Surdyk's. If you're looking to compete, here's what you need to know:
- Team registration is first come/first serve so get on it ($150 gets you all-day fun, racing in the noon-3 p.m. or 3-6 p.m. slots. 8-10 people a team).
- Each team "must have at least four females" (I'm betting on the all-female team to take it all).
- Races take place on the small stretch of University Avenue between 1st Av. NE. and E. Hennepin. Chef Shack and New Belgium beer stations will be available in the Surdyk's parking lot (plus music).
- Stand out – wear costumes, show team spirit. But please, no diapers. Watch this video.
If you'd rather not participate, just come down for the spectacle. It's free.
Details: Noon-6 p.m. June 10, in front of Surdyk's, 303 E. Hennepin Av., Mpls. For more info, go to the Northeast River District's website.
