It's a match made in America.

Detroit-based Shinola (www.shinola.com) is now open in Minneapolis. The three-year-old company, known for its handcrafted watches, has a new store at 3rd and Washington avenues in the North Loop. The heritage brand also carries leather items and bicycles.

Since opening its watch factory in Detroit in 2011, Shinola has been lauded for bringing jobs back to the city. There are Shinola stores in Detroit and New York, too. Minneapolis was chosen as the company's third location because of the city's appreciation for American-made goods.

Seattle-based Filson, Shinola's sister brand known for its rugged high-quality bags and sportswear, will have its own room in the back of the shop.

Shinola products are also available at area stores Askov Finlayson, Angry Catfish, Max's and Nordstrom.
