Is this what's in store for us? We've already found Asian carp in the Mississippi River near LaCrosse.

Here's what happened this week near Peoria, Ill.: Firefighters used a boat to help a guy who was knocked from his Jet Ski by an Asian carp in the Illinois River.

"This is the first carp-related rescue that I've heard of," detective Mike Sanders of the Pekin Police Department told the Peoria Journal Star. "You always hear stories about people getting hit by Asian carp, but I can't think of any rescues."

According to the newspaper, Tad Newell, 22, of Hanna City was riding his new Jet Ski in the Illinois River about a half-mile south of the foot of Court Street when he apparently ran into the large, leaping fish that knocked him from the machine. Newell had a cell phone with him and called for help when the machine began sinking.

Rescuers towed his craft back to shore, and Newell was uninjured.
