A 30-year-old Minneapolis man was identified Friday as the victim of a fatal shooting earlier in the week, authorities said.

Richard Lee Jinkins died from multiple gunshot wounds Wednesday a few minutes before midnight near 3rd Street and 26th Avenue N., according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Jinkins unconscious on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Nobody is in custody. Police offered no additional details Friday.

The shooting was in the general neighborhood of two other homicides that occurred within 23 hours of each other within the last week.

On Sunday about 10 p.m., Gianni Gossitt, 22, was found dead in the 3900 block of Dupont Avenue N., a few blocks from where he lived. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. On the night of Nov. 17, Kerry Scott, 41, of Hopkins, was found beaten to death in an alley behind a home in the 3300 block of Girard Avenue N.

Sgt. Steve McCarty of the Minneapolis Police Department said there wasn't an obvious connection between the murders.

Anyone with information regarding any of the cases is encouraged to call the department's tip line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
