Lane closures and delays are in store for drivers who use Interstate 94 in St. Paul's Midway area and on Hwy. 61 north of Hastings.

In St. Paul, lane restrictions will be in place from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. this week on I-94 between Marion Street and Lexington Parkway. Crews will be working on new pedestrian bridges being built at MacKubin and Grotto streets.

The restrictions will be lifted for the weekend, but they will be back next week, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.

For drivers using Hwy. 61 near Hastings, MnDOT is warning that there will be delays in both directions as the highway will be reduced to a single lane. Starting at 7 p.m. Monday, lane closures on the southbound side between Maycrest Avenue and just north of the Hwy. 10 intersection go into effect. Lane restrictions on the northbound side kick in at midnight.

It's all related to a highway paving project, which MnDOT hopes to have complete by the start of the Thursday morning rush.

The repaving is part of a larger intersection rebuilding project which includes realigning Maycrest Avenue, resurfacing existing pavement, constructing southbound turn lanes and closing a median crossing.
