Karl-Anthony Towns told Slam Magazine "Every time I'm with KG, it feels like, in my opinion, like I'm looking at myself in a mirror."

The latest issue of Slam illustrates this idea nicely.

Towns is featured on the cover next to the headline "100% Real Juice." The young Timberwolves star is posed with his arms crossed, a ball in his right hand and a smug look on his face.

Kevin Garnett appeared on the magazine's cover 17 years ago under the same headline doing the same pose. Slam calls the remake a nod "to a certain KG classic. … One-hundred percent real juice, indeed."

Towns won Rookie of the Year as Garnett's teammate last season and is now poised to lead the franchise into a new era of success. While Towns hopes to follow in the footsteps of Garnett's career success, he wants to do it by blazing a new trail, which is why Slam created two covers for its next issue.

Cover one of two features Towns with the headline "The Takeover" on a "CGI-enhanced joint that resembles no other Slam cover," the magazine wrote.

The covers reflect "a mirror of something that came before [Towns], and a brand new look, a trail of his own."

This is the first time Slam has attempted to remake a cover featuring old and new Wolves stars. The magazine's 1997-1998 NBA preview cover featured Stephon Marbury and Garnett with the headline "Showbiz & KG: Marbury & Garnett rule the world. Imagine that." In May 2012, Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love were featured on a special throwback cover in similar pose and the headline "Showbiz & KL: Ricky Rubio & Kevin Love Rule el Mundo. Imagine that."

The Marbury/Garnett and Rubio/Love comparison didn't quite pan out, but it appears the Towns/Garnett connection might be more appropriate.

Slam put together a nice Towns and Garnett "Mixtape" (see below) that is worth checking out.
