Post time: 12:45 pm. Best bet: Amazon Storm (4th race). Best play: 50 cent Pick 4—Race 1 ,(2,3,6/2,3,4,6/1,2,5,6/3,6), $48

1 5½ furlongs. 3-year-olds and up. Maiden special weight. Purse: $28,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Gray Cotton (Velazquez, Berndt)119/9-2

2: Sky Surfer (A.Canchari, Padilla)123/5-2

3: Rally With Class (Ortega, Robertson)119/7-2

4: Twooliversanatwist (Rosier, Oliver)123/15-1

5: Discreet Investor (Sanchez, Padilla)119/8-1

6: Omaha Hurry (Butler, Robertson)123/2-1

OMAHA HURRY takes significant drop in class and draws perfect outside post to escort the pace. Lightly raced gelding merits respect as the favorite. SKY SURFER is the obvious danger shipping up from Tampa for the Padilla barn, turns back after tiring late last out. RALLY WITH CLASS begins his racing career today for a barn that isn't shy winning first time out.

2 L'Etoile du Nord Stakes. 6 furlongs. 3-year-olds. Purse: $40,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Wishihada (Castro, Berndt)120/8-1

2: River Jewel (Butler, Bravo)118/5-2

3: D R C's Pretty Sky (A.Canchari, Villafranco)124/2-1

4: Triple Chelsea (Carreno, Granitz)120/7-2

5: Major Threat (Franco, Lund)116/12-1

6: Jeana Baby (Velazquez, Van Winkle)118/5-1

D R C's PRETTY SKY has yet to be off the board this year including a couple of wins. Expect jockey Canchari to forwardly place this filly prompting the pace before attacking the front runner. JEANA BABY invades to the midwest from the popular west coast circuit full of early speed, strictly the one to catch to get the win. RIVER JEWEL is a logical threat for the Bravo barn and is the closing threat the front runners need to worry about.

3 About 11⁄16 miles. Allowance optional claiming. Purse: $34,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Waronthehomefront (Velazquez, Biehler)119/3-1

2: Empire Knight (A.Canchari, Diodoro)119/2-1

3: Aunt Ruby's Kitten (Sanchez, Litfin)119/12-1

4: Bellamy Run (Rosier, Sharp)119/8-1

5: Congrats Seattle (Carreno, Diodoro)119/5-1

6: Politicallycorrect (Franco, Diodoro)119/3-1

WARONTHEHOMEFRONT has a slight class edge over his rivals and loves winning at Canterbury. Supports a couple of dazzling bullet drills coming in. EMPIRE KNIGHT speed figures look tremendous on paper but he hasn't had his picture taken since last August, still can't take lightly. CONGRATS SEATTLE and POLITICALLYCORRECT are major players who will be tailgating the pace ready to pounce.

4 5½ furlongs. 3-year-olds and up. Claiming $6,250. Purse: $10,500.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Wood Machine (A.Canchari, Silva)123/6-1

2: Summer Epic (P.Canchari, L.Canchari)123/20-1

3: Shemp (Carreno, Diodoro)123/8-5

4: Kluszewski (Dieguez, Silva)123/5-1

5: Keyed for Speed (Sanchez, Padilla)123/20-1

6: Amazon Storm (Goodwin, Riecken)119/3-1

7: Cool N Ready Red (Rosier, Bethke)123/15-1

8: Liberty Rocks (Velazquez, Sweere)123/8-1

AMAZON STORM has tactical speed to attend the pace and pull off the mild upset. Ran a decent second last out against a stronger group.SHEMP plunges in class and attempts the short sprint for the first time off the long extended layoff, probably against my better judgement, I'll make the favorite second best today. WOOD MACHINE could benefit from a heated pace and looms the off-the-pace upsetter.

5 About 11⁄16 miles. 3-year-olds and up. Waiver claiming. Purse: $25,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Affirmed Cure (Rosier, Peters)119/15-1

2: Mr. Vegas (Velazquez, Scherer)119/5-1

3: Vanderboom Ridge (Carreno, Bravo)119/5-1

4: Caleb's Comet (Hernandez, Rarick)119/12-1

5: Why Frank (Sanchez, Oliver)119/10-1

6: Heisenberg (A.Canchari, Shaw)119/8-1

7: Vino Limbo Tango (Castro, Becker)119/4-1

8: Dickens (Goodwin, Rarick)119/8-1

9: Impromptu (Butler, Rhone)119/3-1

10: Deadly Truth (Franco, Diodoro)119/7-2

Nice turf race with a plethora of price runners but I'll lean towards the most likely post time favorite IMPROMPTU. Comes off a nice stalking win down at Tampa and might of been the confidence builder he needed. VINO LIMBO TANGO appears to be the rabbit the hunters are going to want to catch to get the win. Has a strong shot of going gate-to-wire with shortage of speed in this group. WHY FRANK has been chilling since racing here last August, always gives a solid effort and likes to hit the board.

6 5½ furlongs. Fillies and mares. Allowance. 3-year-olds and up. Purse: $33,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Moonlight Basin (A.Canchari, Tracy,Jr.)119/8-1

2: Stella's Princess (Butler, Bravo)119/4-1

3: Missmolly (Goodwin, Padilla)119/12-1

4: North Sky (Escobar, Rhone)123/6-1

5: Elli Mae Win (Rosier, Rengstorf)119/8-1

6: Precious Passion (Franco, Riecken)123/10-1

7: Blues Lil Pegasus (Velazquez, Van Winkle)119/15-1

8: Rant N Rave (Carreno, Bravo)119/12-1

9: Adorkable (Hernandez, Hanson)123/12-1

10: Kato Miss (Joubert, Hanson)123/15-1

11: Honey's Sox Appeal (Sanchez, Robertson)119/7-2

MOONLIGHT BASIN could be a nice price play after a decent effort in the slop last out at Prairie Meadows. Figures to be in the hunt when things get interesting. NORTH SKY is a confirmed closer for the Rake Farms stable but only supports one win in 10 starts, consider for exotics. HONEY SOX APPEAL is the lukewarm morning line favorite and could prove tough if returns to last year's form.

7 Paul Bunyan Stakes. 6 furlongs. 3-year-olds. Purse: $40,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Smooth Chiraz (Butler, Bravo)124/6-1

2: Awesome Emmit (Sanchez, Bravo)120/8-1

3: John's Luck (Rosier, Heitzmann)120/12-1

4: Royal Lion (A.Canchari, Stuart)124/5-2

5: He's So Zazzy (Franco, Bravo)120/5-1

6: Dakota Candy (Velazquez, Berndt)118/9-2

7: Pistone Steel (Carreno, Diodoro)118/3-1

Evenly matched Paul Bunyan stakes. I'll give PISTONE STEEL the slight nod for the Diodoro barn with terrific post position escorting the pace for first attack. HE"S SO ZAZZY will be pursued by the field as the pace setter with jockey Franco imploring him to hold on to the wire. ROYAL LION will be rolling late and is probably the deserving chalk at post, just think he prefers to run longer.

8 About 7½ furlongs. 3-year-olds and up. Waiver claiming $20,000. Purse: $20,000.

#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds

1: Pennant Fever (Joubert, Hanson)123/12-1

2: Shipmaker (Lopez, Jr., Bends)123/15-1

3: Sunday Prohibition (Franco, Rengstorf)123/9-2

4: Pilatus (Velazquez, Berndt)123/3-1

5: Best Asset (Hernandez, McFarlane)123/2-1

6: Schindlers Risk (Sanchez, Schindler)123/15-1

7: Smiling Charlie (A.Canchari, Robertson)123/3-1

Many ways to go in the nightcap so why not go with a bomb to finish the day. SHIPMAKER laid a egg last out in dirt sprint but has had some quality turf races under his belt from here last season. Anything could happen in this race so I'm taking a shot with the biggest M/L price. BEST ASSET usually gets a share but is light on his winning form, must use underneath with your ticket. PILATUS and SMILING CHARLIE usually give well meant efforts and are strong contenders for win honors.
