Details: A local developer has teamed with a national hotel management group known for its boutique sensibilities on a new project in Blaine that aims to capitalize on the nearby National Sports Center.

Elevage Development Group, led by Corey Burstad of Blaine, constructed and opened the Bricks Kitchen & Pub restaurant across the street from the soccer field complex last year. Now he has received city approvals to further build out the property with an upscale hotel for National Sports Center visitors.

As designed by Minneapolis-based ESG Architects, the as-yet-unnamed hotel will boast a relatively modest 80 rooms, with a first floor that includes a kitchen, lounge area, offices and a fitness center. The other four floors will contain guest rooms. The hotel will be only the third in Blaine.

Portland, Ore.-based Provenance Hotels, a specialist in boutique concepts, will manage the hotel. Its Hotel Max in Seattle is an art and music-themed facility that caters to the city's creative scene, as does its Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery in New Orleans.

Provenance said its idea for the Blaine hotel is to establish it as "a destination informed by the love of sports" by "infusing" its common areas with games; providing a fitness center with a "bold, fresh approach"; and marketing it as an "overnight playground" for athletes.
