Type: Multifamily

Units: Eight

Size: 4,536 square feet

Developer: Vincent Asset Management

Architect: SDNE Architecture & Planning

Details: Eden Prairie-based Vincent Real Estate Advisors has secured the official go-ahead to construct an eight-unit rental townhouse building on the site of a dilapidated single-family home two blocks north of Hwy. 10/47 in Anoka.

The Anoka City Council unanimously approved the plans for the new multifamily building at its May 19 meeting. The 4,536-square-foot, three-story structure will replace a vacant house on Lincoln Street in a part of the city zoned for high-density residential uses. The site is less than a block from the 210-unit Lincoln Estate Apartments.

The designs from Afton-based SDNE Architecture & Planning show cement board lap siding with stone on the first level. Other elements are included to provide visual breaks and add aesthetic appeal, such as windows and decorative paneling on the garage doors and a pair of pitched rooflines.

The building will include 12 underground parking stalls and also will have eight spaces in a ground-level parking lot.

Brian Reiner of Vincent Real Estate Advisors, representing the developer, told the council that the townhouse building will be topped by a metal roof rather than asphalt shingles to provide better protection against the increasingly frequent hailstorms that have been striking south-central Minnesota. The roof will be well-insulated to provide noise dampening for the tenants beneath, he said.
