High-profile Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek shuffled his communications staff, hiring another television reporter as his new spokeswoman.

Jennifer Johnson, an Apple Valley native, is the new public information officer. Lisa Kiava was promoted to communications director.

Johnson will oversee external communications for the office, including responding to emergencies, writing news releases, organizing news conferences and developing public safety messages.

Johnson most recently worked as the evening anchor at KDLT News in Sioux Falls, S.D. She started as a reporter at KEYC in Mankato. She earns $28.20 an hour, about $58,000 a year.

Kiava now will oversee all internal communications, as well as long-term and special projects for the office, which includes development of "new initiatives that communicate strategic direction with criminal justice and nonprofit partners," Johnson said.

Kiava makes $44.93 an hour, about $91,000 a year.
