WAUSAU, Wis. — Local health officials are reminding those struggling with the hot, humid weather in Wisconsin that there are places to cool off.

Eight public libraries in Marathon County have been designated as cooling centers. Public works employees and others who work outside in sweltering conditions often put in long hours in uncomfortable clothing.

Wausau public works superintendent Don Skare says he tells his employees to keep hydrated, pace themselves and take enough breaks. The Daily Herald Media (http://wdhne.ws/1bky2pX ) says Skare provides large coolers full of Gatorade at work sites.

The National Weather Service says heat index values Tuesday will reach 95 to 99 away from Lake Michigan through Thursday.
