The Highs

• On pace for a 120-catch, 1,304-yard season midway through last season, numbers that would have put Harvin in the MVP conversation. It appeared Harvin was on his way to realizing his immense potential.

• Productive slot receiver who averaged 70 catches during his four seasons with the Vikings, accounting for 3,302 yards and 20 touchdowns. Also rushed for 683 yards and four TDs.

• Explosive kick returner. Ran back five kicks for touchdowns and averaged more than 32 yards a kick in each of the last two seasons.

the Lows

• Always something with Harvin. He missed parts of a mandatory minicamp and requested a trade last June, then left the team for good when he was placed on injured reserve because of a sprained ankle on Dec. 5. And, of course, the sideline blowup with coach Leslie Frazier in Week 9 — Harvin's final game as a Viking.

• Although he missed only three games his first three seasons, migraines were an ongoing problem. During the 2010 season, he missed 36 practices, almost all of them related to migraines.

• Fair or not, Harvin could never shake the reputation of a troubled player that dates to testing positive twice for marijuana at Florida, plus a published report of a physical altercation with a Florida assistant.
