No. 1 -ranked Thomas More broke open a close game in the second half and defeated No. 2 St. Thomas 75-58 in a Division III women's basketball quarterfrinal Saturday on Thomas More's home court in Kentucky.
The Tommies (30-1) were hampered because two players suffered knee injuries in Friday's Sweet 16 victory over Hope College. Hannah Hughes were unable to play Saturday and Maggie Weiers played for only four minutes before she was unable to continue.
The Tommies trailed only 42-39 early in the second half when Thomas More when on a 29-12 run to decide the same.
