Rescue workers in Yellow Medicine County scrambled for 6 1/2 hours to unload a large grain bin before finding the body of a 77-year-old man who had gone missing.

Richard Rosetter, of rural Granite Falls, had been in and out of the bin while others were emptying corn from it Monday afternoon, according to a news release from the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office. He was last seen at about 2 p.m., and the others thought he had left with his wife. When his wife returned and they realized he was not with her, they called 911 at about 4:40 p.m., the release said.

When responding authorities couldn't find him in the area, rescuers began carefully emptying the bin by cutting holes in it, Sheriff Bill Flaten said.

Rosetter was found near the bottom and pronounced dead at the scene. Friends and neighbors provided equipment to help remove the grain.
