There will be a rematch in the Big Apple in the NIT semifinals.

Florida State edged Louisiana Tech 78-75 on Wednesday in Tallahassee to advance to a game against the Gophers at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The teams met on Dec. 3 at Williams Arena in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Gophers won 71-61 behind Andre Hollins' 21 points.

Florida State (22-13) won its NIT third-round game behind 21 points from Aaron Thomas and 20 from Okaro White.

"Even though we didn't make the NCAA, we wanted to come into the NIT and still play with that toughness and try to win it," Thomas said.

Southern Methodist 67, California 65: Nic Moore made a three-pointer with 6.5 seconds left as the Mustangs (26-9) edged the Golden Bears in Dallas, sending former Knicks coach Larry Brown back to Madison Square Garden. SMU plays Clemson in the semifinals.

Justin Cobbs, the former Gophers guard, made a three-pointer with 15 seconds left to put Cal (21-14) ahead, but his shot at the buzzer missed.
