The Big Ten named Gophers safety Jacob Huff its defensive player of the week for his efforts in Saturday's 34-3 victory over Middle Tennessee.

Huff, a junior from Bollingbrook, Ill., returned a second-quarter interception 67 yards for a touchdown, a key play that boosted Minnesota's lead to 20-3. He also had four tackles, including one for a loss, and one pass breakup.

"I've never had a pick-six, so seeing all that daylight and green, it was a pretty humbling experience," Huff said.

Huff is the first Gopher to be Big Ten defensive player of the week since Blake Cashman on Nov. 21, 2016.
