LAWRENCE, KAN. - Carolyn Davis scored 20 points on 8-for11 shooting, helping No. 20 Kansas rally in the second half and remain unbeaten with a 65-53 victory over the Gophers on Sunday.
Sophomore guard Rachel Banham connected on eight of 16 shots and scored 19 points for the Gophers (6-3). Her three-pointer with 10 minutes, 59 seconds to play pulled Minnesota within 42-41. But Kansas responded with a 9-0 run and was never seriously threatened again.
Banham scored 12 points in a back-and-forth first half in which the Gophers led by seven early but ended in a 30-30 tie.
Banham was the Gophers' only double-figures scorer, while the other four Minnesota starters scored a combined 15 points.
Chelsea Gardner, coming off a career-high 26-point performance against Grambling State, added 14 points off the bench for the Jayhawks, who started 7-0 for the third consecutive season.
Davis and Gardner combined for 15 of the Jayhawks' 26 field goals.
Kansas won despite committing 17 turnovers, shooting 3-for-14 from three-point range and missing 15 of 25 free throws.
Kansas continued its strong defensive play, holding the Gophers to 37 percent shooting. The Jayhawks haven't given up 60 points or more this season.
