Summertime

Through Aug. 2: Otis Redding's posthumous hit "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" was on every playlist back in 1968 when Emma Amos evoked the sweet melancholy of aimless "Summer" days spent just "watchin' the tide roll away." Her pretty screenprint (right) is the calling card of "Summertime," a show of 30 paintings, photos, prints, videos and other items picked from the collection of the Minnesota Museum of American Art. Chosen to celebrate the St. Paul Saints' new CHS Field, the show features work by an eclectic clutch of Minnesota talents, including Richard Brewer, Jim Denomie, Patrick DesJarlait, Clement Haupers, Wing Young Huie, Leon Hushcha, Paul Manship, Mike Manzavrakos, John Marshall, George Morrison and Amy Sabrina. Check www.mmaa.org for a schedule of micro-tours, youth art-making programs, "BodyCartography" performances and film screenings. (11 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursdays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays & Sundays. Free. MMAA Project Space, 141 E. 4th St., St. Paul. 651-797-2571.)
