Hot August days can mean hot muskie fishing. Scott Kleinschmidt of Kenyon, Minn., is among Minnesotans who fashion their own baits. Kleinschmidt's widely available Musky Safari lures are popular among big-fish anglers. A favorite of mine is the Frankenspitz, which is part creeper, part wobbler and part globe. This surface lure imitates a baby duck or other possible muskie victims. Work slow or fast. I slow and stop, slow and stop.
