The game ball for Saturday's Battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe is being run on foot from Madison to Minneapolis by members of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity on both campuses, a 268-mile Rivalry Run that last year raised nearly $12,000 for the American Red Cross.
Wisconsin members left Madison with the game ball on Thursday and handed it over on Friday at the border in Winona to Minnesota members, who will carry it the final 112 miles to TCF Bank Stadium in time for the Gophers' game with Wisconsin.
Pledges for the second annual Rivalry Run can be made at the fraternity's website, www.mnfiji.com.
