Tempers and frustrations boiled over on the sideline and in the locker room after the Vikings presumably hit rock bottom in a 31-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Players argued with players, players argued with coaches and frustration was evident everywhere throughout the game as the Vikings fell to 3-7.

Here is a sampling of the reaction in the locker room:

"We played atrocious, bad football in all phases," tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said. "Special teams. Offense. Defense. Just couldn't get anything going. Green Bay just outplayed us. They're a great team and they showed it today. A lot of things we have to work on. No excuse for nothing. That's embarrassing. It's something that people just gotta get their extra work in. Period. End of discussion."

Said Jared Allen: "It's hurtful, and embarrassing. It's embarrassing to put this on in front of our home fans at the Dome, against a division rival, after a game we should have won up in Green Bay. To come out and put this on tape, it's embarrassing."

Considering how one-sided the game became, the Vikings faced plenty of questions about their effort and whether some players quit. Several players admitted they felt like that happened. "It's a vibe that I had," Adrian Peterson said. "I just really didn't feel it collectively. It will be something that will be addressed. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that way." Brett Favre agreed. "The score would indicate that," he said. "Without watching the film, I don't know."

Shiancoe was asked if he felt like everyone is giving effort. "Nope. Nope. Nope," he said. "I don't know what's wrong," Shiancoe added. "It's gut check time, man. I don't want no more excuses, man. You can't make no more excuses at all, about nothing. What was it, 34-3? 31? Come on. This is the NFL man. We're a good team. There's no way we should allow something like that to happen. We need to score on offense. We can't just have three points on offense? Three points? On offense? Come on. And 31 points? Come on man. That's atrocious, man. That's bad football. And that's something that's embarrassing to me. It's embarrassing to the organization and I'm pretty sure it's embarrassing to everybody." Vikings frustrated with young corners Defensive end Ray Edwards got into a heated argument with rookie cornerback Chris Cook on the sideline in the third quarter. Afterward, players were clearly unhappy with the performance of Cook and Asher Allen. "I was just going over there to try and light a fire under them," Edwards said about the exchange. "Just make plays. Everybody do your job." Cook declined to talk about the incident and cut off an interview with asked about his struggles. "That's not even something to be talking to the media about," Cook said when asked about the argument. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw at Cook and Allen repeatedly and he completed 22 of 31 passes for 301 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. "Quarterbacks and offensive coordinators are very smart," Antoine Winfield said. "They're going to go after the young guy. So this gives the young guys chances to make a name for themselves. Either you're going to crumble under the pressure or you're going to stand up and hold your own. We just didn't do that today." Winfield was asked what advice he gives the young corners. "Try and play with confidence," he said. "The ball is going to come your direction. Until you start making plays it's going to continue to come your direction." Cook gave up a 47-yard completion, a 39-yard completion and a 3-yard touchdown catch by James Jones in the second quarter before being benched. Allen gave up a 46-yard touchdown and a 22-yard touchdown, both by Jennings, in the second half. "Four deep balls on us down the sideline the whole game basically," defensive tackle Kevin Williams said. "I don't know what else to say."
