SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. – The U.S. Coast Guard was working Saturday to free a freighter that's run aground in Whitefish Bay off Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Coast Guard officials said all crew members of the 833-foot Roger Blough are safe and remain aboard since the vessel ran aground Friday amid flooding reports. That now appears to be under control.

Lt. Creighton Chong said work had begun to safely remove the vessel from a reef, which could take a couple of days. He said the Coast Guard was working with Canadian officials because the Blough is on the U.S.-Canada border.

Investigators say they have found no pollution in the water. They are monitoring damage and seeking to learn the cause of the ship's running aground.
