A freight train and a dump truck collided Monday morning in St. Cloud, halting rail traffic in the area for more than two hours and sending the truck into an electrical power pole, authorities said.

The crash involving the eastbound BNSF Railway train occurred about 7:45 a.m. near the intersection of Hwy. 10 and 32nd Street SE., according to the State Patrol.

The truck driver, Allen Keene, 26, of St. Cloud, was hospitalized with minor injuries, the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office said.

Railway spokeswoman Amy McBeth said no one was hurt on the train, which was hauling automobiles.

Lines from the downed power pole fell onto Hwy. 10, disrupting traffic, the Sheriff's Office said.

Debris from the collision damaged two semitrailer trucks and three passenger vehicles heading east on the highway, the Sheriff's Office added.

Authorities have yet to explain the circumstances surrounding the collision. The crossing has stop signs and crossbucks but no gates with arms.

Rail traffic resumed about 10 a.m., McBeth said.
