Franklin Art Works, the13-year-old contemporary-art space currently housed in a former movie theater at Franklin and 11th Av., is selling that space and looking for a new home. Director Tim Peterson, who said he's looking for a bigger space with more street life, also acknowledged that the nonprofit couldn't afford the $750,000 in renovation costs the current building needs.

Franklin's focus has been on exhibiting mostly young artists in solo shows. Peterson said he expects to find a new facility and re-open in 2014. A closing party will be held 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10.
