Queer artist and advocate Lyssa Sparrow's journey to self discovery began in a bathtub on New Year's Eve 2015. The following year was the start of her sexual evolution, which had its twists and turns, including redefining sexual assault and what it means to date ladies. The 28-year-old's tale of empowerment could've bordered on the whiny tell-all variety, but "First Year Queer" finds ways to make the content accessible and interactive. These include: a puppet, an "emotional toolkit," an instruction class on kink (it's PG-13, don't worry), and the voices of others struggling to define their sexuality. Stay for the goodies and the raffle afterward. (10 p.m. Sat., 7 p.m. Tue., 8:30 p.m. Thu., 1 p.m. Sun. Aug. 13, Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls.)
