In the large Twin Cities Liberian community, there is growing fear.

Alfred Flomo of Brooklyn Park is originally from Fokwele in Bong County, central Liberia. He has heard of two deaths and many more hospitalizations in the town of about 2,000.

He says friends and family there are living in confusion and worry; "they don't know what the next day will bring."

He noted that "Liberia is not like America, where you go to the news or the newspaper; it takes about a week for news to travel out from the capital." So education efforts and facts are slower to travel than rumors.

In the Twin Cities' large Liberian community, "Everyone is feeling very bad," Flomo said, not with a feeling of blame toward the government, but worry that they're not there to help and to get news.
