Quarterback Brett Favre missed a second consecutive day of practice Thursday as he failed to pass his baseline concussion test again, according to coach Leslie Frazier.

Meanwhile, running back Adrian Peterson, who sat out last Monday's game because of a knee and thigh bruise, did limited work in Thursday's practice. Frazier said Peterson made dramatic improvement from Monday but it remains uncertain if he will be able to play Sunday night at Philadelphia.

"Is it enough to get us to game day?" Frazier said of Peterson's improvement. "We'll see. We have another day, so we'll see how he does [Friday in practice]." Peterson was able to take snaps in practice and do some running, according to Frazier. Declaring Favre out for Sunday would be a foolish given that he was listed as "out" on the injury report two days before he started last Monday against the Bears at TCF Bank Stadium. But Favre suffered a concussion in the second quarter of the Vikings' loss and so far Joe Webb has been running the first team in practice. Favre, who walked off the field with his teammates after practice, can continue to take the concussion test through Saturday but at this point he hasn't even been able to graduate to taking the actual physical portion of the exam. "It can vary from person to person," Frazier said when asked about Favre's lack of progress. "Some guys respond a little bit better. But in this era, where we're very cautious when it comes to head injuries, you're just very cautious. But it varies from guy to guy. Some guys have fewer symptoms than another two days later or a day later." Also missing practice were safeties Madieu Williams (concussion) and Tyrell Johnson (knee). Neither has made improvement, Frazier said, and it appears both are likely to sit out Sunday. Cornerback Frank Walker (hamstring) was limited for a second consecutive day Thursday and safety Jamarca Sanford (concussion) was able to do all the work for the second day in a row. Defensive tackle Kevin Williams did not take part in practice because he was taking care of a personal issue. He is expected back on Friday. For the Eagles, wide receiver DeSean Jackson (foot) was limited in practice a day after taking part in all of the drills. Cornerback Jorrick Calvin (back) and linebacker Keenan Clayton (hamstring) sat out a second consecutive day. Defensive tackle Mike Patterson (knee) was limited on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday. Etc.

  • Frazier said that Lorenzo Booker will continue to return kickoffs, although Percy Harvin is back. "The way Lorenzo has been going, he's been doing a great job for us," Frazier said. "We'd like to continue to let him do it and let Percy continue to concentrate on the receiver position for now. But not that you may not see Percy back there. But right now, the way Lorenzo is hitting that ball up in there, let him continue. And he's been so close. Matter of fact, the Giants game, that was a great return [a touchdown that was called back] and he had some good returns against Chicago and hopefully he'll have some good returns on Sunday night." Booker is averaging 23.3 yards on 12 kick returns. Harvin averaged the same figure on 40 returns before missing two games because of migraine headaches. Harvin returned last Monday against the Bears.
  • Cornerback Antoine Winfield was fined $7,500 by the NFL for a second-quarter hit on Jay Cutler last Monday that resulted in the Bears quarterback having to get stitches in his chin.
