Three East Ridge football players are ranked among the top eight football recruits in Minnesota for the class of 2016 by the Northstar Football News.

Quarterback Seth Green, a 6-3, 200-pound junior-to-be who has six confirmed Division I offers, is Minnesota's top-ranked junior-to-be. Teammate Jojo Garcia, a 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive tackle, is ranked No. 3. Kjetil Cline, a 6-foot, 190-pound wide receiver who has run a 4.43 40-yard dash, is ranked No. 8.

Green and Garcia have received offers from the University of Minnesota.

New Wolfpack coach

Ed Cassidy Jr. has been hired as boys' basketball coach at Park. Cassidy, a familiar name in basketball circles, previously coached DeLaSalle, Simley and St. Bernard's to a combined seven state tournament berths. He coached Simley to the Class 3A state title in 1997. Cassidy, who was an assistant coach at Hamline University last season, coached DeLaSalle to a Class 1A runner-up finish in 1992 and St. Bernard's to second place in the Class 2A tournament in 2009.

Aaron Forsythe, the boys' bockey coach at Forest Lake, has been named the school's activities director. Forsythe replaces Joel Olson, who resigned to pursue other career opportunities.

• Woodbury has hired Megan Kirchenwitz as its new girls' basketball coach. Kirchenwitz was the head coach at Henry Sibley last winter.

• East Ridge has hired Dean Talafous to head up its girls' hockey program.
