DULUTH - A small group of white supremacists that held a rally Saturday at the Duluth Civic Center was confronted by a much larger group of counter-protesters.
When eight members of a white-supremacist group arrived at the Civic Center at about 10 a.m., they were confronted by dozens of opponents.
Police arrested four counter-protesters who threw snowballs at the eight people, the Duluth News Tribune reported.
After much shouting, pushing and shoving, police, who were wearing safety helmets, escorted the eight members of the Supreme White Alliance into City Hall. Opponents lingered outside for a while, but cleared out by 11:30 a.m., and the white supremacists left shortly thereafter.
The alliance said its rally was in response to a Duluth campaign that urges white people to be aware of racism.
