MADISON, Wis. — State Rep. Tom Larson says he's been medically cleared to return to work following surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.

A Chippewa Herald report (http://bit.ly/11652Pe ) says the Republican from Colfax found out he had a tumor on his kidney about a month ago. He had surgery June 4 to remove the tumor and kidney.

He says the surgery removed all the cancer, so he doesn't have to undergo radiation or chemotherapy.

Larson says his doctor has cleared him to drive to Madison the week after the July 4 holiday.

He says he wishes he weren't in the hospital while the budget debate was going on. He says he monitored the debate by watching Wisconsin Eye coverage, and that he would have voted for the budget if he were able.
