Gov. Mark Dayton Wednesday issued a cold invitation -- but not a cold shoulder -- to the Minnesota Capitol press.

"We're going to Brainerd on Saturday to meet with the tourism advisory groups but also to participate in the outdoor ice fishing activities there, to which all members of the Capitol press corps are invited," Dayton said. "Attendance will be taken. And future access to the governor's office will depend on those who show up."

For those who fret about press access, the governor delivered his ultimatum with a laugh.

The Brainerd Jaycees said that Dayton is the first governor to attend the 21-year-old ice fishing event.
