Zenon Dance Company

The troupe celebrates its 33rd spring season with a world premiere by New York-based choreographer Sam Kim, originally from Seoul, who lived in Minnesota as a young person. Kim's non-narrative and often dark, surrealistic work should make a good match with the Zenon dancers, who soar in that kind of experimental performance. The concert also marks the final performance of veteran company member Stephen Schroeder, who has performed with Zenon since 2001. Besides the Kim world premiere, Zenon will present Joanna Kotze's recent work "Rouge," Wynn Fricke's "The Mourning Tree" and Danny Buraczeski's 1988 jazz work "Merry Go Round," set to music by Glenn Miller and the Army Air Force Band. (8 p.m. Fri. & Sat., through May 15. Cowles Center, 528 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls, $34, 612-206-3600, thecowlescenter.org)
